LED white light
LED lighting represents the state-of-the-art and has many advantages over other types of lighting, including:
- Very low energy consumption - up to 60% less than other types
- Bright white light with good colour rendering – which means that colours
will be seen well on CCTV. Clothing and vehicles will be correctly identified. - Long life – up to 50,000 hours. That can be well over 10 years.
- Reduced glare and ‘light pollution’ – light only goes where you need
it
and is neighbour-friendly. - Instant switch-on: no warm-up.
- Can be remotely controlled and dimmed.
Infra-red
Infra-red illuminators provide a light invisible to the eye but visible to CCTV cameras. Although imagery is black-and-white, the invisible light source can be a big benefit.
Low-voltage
This operates on 12-24 V as opposed to 240 V mains supply and in some situations, for example where water is present, this has safety benefits.
