Fire safety regulations impact on site owners, employers, self-employed business premises, as well as charity and voluntary organisations. They also apply to people responsible for premises, and to contractors. INDEX Security Systems can supply systems that meet these requirements and can provide training.
INDEX systems are designed to comply with BS5839 and we also take into account the needs of individual customers. Options include:
• Analogue and addressable panels
• A wide range of smoke and heat detectors
• 24/7 alarm monitoring
• Automatic door retainers and closures
• Conventional bells and electronic sounders.
When linked in to an intruder system, a fire detection system shares many of its benefits, such as various alarm options, and remote monitoring. See our Intruder Alarm section for more details about these.
It is mandatory that all commercial premises, public buildings and workplaces have a fire risk assessment – even if the premises have been recently built in accordance with current standards. The regulations also stipulate that only a 'competent person' can carry out a fire risk assessment and keep a record of the findings. INDEX Security Systems has competent fire assessors who will undertake this. They will work with you to develop a strategy to help prevent, detect and contain fire, and will draw up escape and assembly plans.
After we have done our work, the responsibility rests with building owners to maintain the necessary standards and INDEX offers fire safety courses to train the staff concerned. Click here for information about courses.
In addition to fire detection systems, INDEX can provide hardware to contain fires.
