Fire Detection Systems
Fire safety rules impact on business owners, employers, self-employed business premises
and charity and voluntary organisations. The tules also apply to those responsible
for business premises and identified contractors.
Fire system options include analogue and addressable panels, with a wide range of
smoke and heat detectors, 24/7 fire alarm monitoring, automatic door retainers and
closures, conventional bells and electronic sounders. All systems are designed to
suit specific needs of life and/or property protection in line with BS5839.
Current rules stipulate that only a 'competent person' can carry out a fire risk
assessment and keep a record of the findings. Index Security has competent fire
assessors to undertake fire risk assessment to provide the optimum fire safety strategy
and to help prevent, detect and contain fire with escape and assembly plans in place.
Premises that have been designed and build in line with modern building regulations
will still need to implement a fire risk assessment.
To contain fire, Index will provide hardware in the form of door retainers, fire
extinguishers, fire blankets, and automatic door release systems. Escape mechanisms
include fire evacuation, fire safety signs, staff training and emergency lighting.
